The Oyster Inn, Waiheke Island, NZ

The Oyster Inn, Waiheke Island, NZ

The Oyster Inn offers veranda dining under the shade of surrounding palms.  We had spent a lazy day on the beach and wanted a delicious seafood meal before taking the ferry back to Auckland.

The Oyster Inn WaihekeWe just spotted this restaurant and since we arrived just before the peak dinner rush we were able to get a table out on the veranda. Great location in Oneroa, overlooking the Main Street and bay. The restaurant pride themselves on using the best local produce and you can have everything from delicious fresh oysters (of course!) to pork belly, or fish pie. The vegetables are grown especially for the restaurant by local gardeners.

We started with the Oysters which were incredible.  We shared a few things for our mains including the lamb breast, oyster poi boy with wasabi and a classic fish and chips.  Everything was fresh, simple and beautifully cooked.

This kind of great food in a relaxed atmosphere is our dream dining experience.

The Oyster Inn’s website describes the restaurant as:

At The Oyster Inn restaurant we serve honest, simple dishes made with the very best local produce and pride ourselves on our fresh seafood and shellfish.
We’re obsessed with the provenance of everything we serve – so it’s ideal that we’re located on Waiheke Island, which provides us with bountiful supplies of almost everything we need.
A local fisherman Terry Gallon catches fish for us. We shuck oysters from around New Zealand, including Waiheke’s very own Te Matuku oysters, and our vegetables are grown especially for us by local gardeners. We’re also proud to support a wide range of local and regional artisanal New Zealand food producers.
