3 Days in Hong Kong

3 Days in Hong Kong

Hands down the best thing to do in Hong Kong is eat at Lin Heung Tea House. More about that here: Amazing Restaurant in Hong Kong!

Upon landing we took a taxi to the Harbour Grand Hotel in Kowloon which is an urban area in Hong Kong with fantastic views back to the city.  The room was amazing, floor to ceiling windows and the biggest bed I have ever seen (I would say bigger than a California king).  We went straight to sleep as I was full of the flu and had a chest infection.

Our first full day we spent exploring Kowloon.  We walked along Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade and observed locals doing Tai Chi in the park – which was pretty cool.  We came across the Avenue of Stars which has handprints & plaques honoring Hong Kong film stars, plus a Bruce Lee statue! Bonus!

It’s a very pretty walk, but slightly unfortunate that Hong Kong has so much haze (caused by pollution) .  Each evening the nightly Symphony of Lights takes place, which is a spectacular sound-and-light show involving 44 buildings on the Hong Kong Island skyline.

One of our must-do activities while Hong Kong was Victoria Peak. The Peak is the highest evaluation of Honk Kong Island and offers stunning views of the city skyline. Although it has an altitude of 552m it is not actually the highest peak in Hong Kong, that would be ‘Tai Mo Shan’ (Big Mountain) with an altitude of 957m.

Victoria Peak was exclusively home to expats in the early 20th Century and served as a signalling point for ships coming into the harbour but perhaps the real reason it was flooded with european expatriates was the more pleasant climate, it manages to escape the humidity that downtown Hong Kong experiences.
